I'm not sure what it is about Dec. 31st and Jan 1st that get's everyone excited about changing their habits, patterns and even their lives...but nonetheless change is in the air. Did you know that The practice of making New Year’s resolutions goes back over 3000 years to the ancient Babylonians? There is just something about the start of a New Year that gives us the feeling of a fresh start and a new beginning. I'm pretty sure there isn't anything mystical that happens exactly at midnight on December 31st, so... What about you? Have you made some resolutions? If you've not made any commitments, don't worry, you still can....just because it's past Jan 1st doesn't mean it's too late!
Consider this: As a Christian, what sort of New Year’s resolution should you make? Here are some suggestions: (1) Pray to the Lord for wisdom (James 1:5) in regards to what resolutions, if any, He would have you make; (2) Pray for wisdom as to how to fulfill the goals God gives you and how to live your life for Him; (3) Rely on God’s strength (not yours) to help you; (4) Find an accountability partner who will help you and encourage you; (5) Don’t become discouraged with occasional failures; instead allow them to motivate you further---Grow in your faith; (6) Don’t become proud or vain, but give God the glory....and your New Year is bound to be rewarding.
