This is a very deep and often dark topic...but it is one that we have to give an account to in this world.
"If God is all loving then why does he allow good people to suffer?"
Is the mantra of many devote and wounded atheist and agnostics...
As per the Holy Spirit through Paul...Phil 2:12b "—continue to work out your salvation". We must wrestle with this idea of God allowing pain and how does that flow through His perfect Grace and consistent Respect to us as humans.
Please wrestle with this...there is a lot of pain out there and I do not think a dogmatic answer of..."Jesus love you" would be the healing pearl of wisdom that quells a burning heart. Although very true, I think God is calling us to a higher level of thinking and empathy to His children that are in pain.
Here are the bible verses that we went over
John 16:33
• Romans 5:2-5
• 1 John 5:4-5
• Luke 13:1-5
• Romans 12:11-13
• Lamentations 3:24-26
• Psalm 31:24
I also recommend "Where Is God When It Hurts" by Phillip Yancey
Here are the small group question we went through.
• In what areas of life, do you feel alone today?
• How do you react to bad circumstances or tough struggles?
• Do you tend to draw closer to God or away from Him in your time of need?
• How is your relationship with God when ‘all is well’? How should it be?
• What is the role of followers of Christ amid war, injustice, and suffering?
• What promises from Scripture can we cling to in the midst of chaos?
Does God feel pain? If so what does that say about pain?
